Brand of Capo: I love G7th Capo’ s. I’ ve been using their ART capo for years and it is seriously perfect. I have had no issues with it and get great tuning and consistency from it.
Brand / Type Guitar Pick: My primary go to is Dunlop Tortex. 73 mm( yellow), but I recently also got a pack of. 88 mm pics from a company called Intune. Theirs sounded slightly different than the Dunlop. 88, my guess is because it seems the edges are slightly more squared off than the Dunlop, and that has a way of making the tone still have a certain chime and articulation, but gaining all of the beefy lows and low mids of a. 88 mm pic.
And if anyone doesn’ t think that there’ s a real difference between pics, you are missing out.
What piece of gear would you like next, or you are interested in? I’ ve been lightly eye-balling the GFI Solis Ventus. I’ ve always enjoyed their approach to effects and like the format they made for the Solis Ventus, which is more expanded than the Specular Tempus I have. My biggest battle would be for space on my board to use it. Aside from that, I am always eyeing new drives to try new things.
Favorite Worship Guitar Performance in a Song: I found myself recently returning to Josh Baldwin’ s The War Is Over album that Bobby Strand produced and also recorded electric guitar for. I loved hearing his approach of layering guitar parts and being intentional with how he dialed his tones for each different part to communicate different things. It wasn’ t all just the same tone and 10 EG parts. It was intentional EQ sculpting for different parts and approaches to recording them in the stereo field so that everything was audible all at the same time and didn’ t clash. Love that.
