THE WATER
• Seedskadee National Wildlife
Refuge and Flaming Gorge,
Southwest Wyoming: These
two are separate, but both
within Sweetwater County and
well worth your time. “The
Water” is a heading attempting
to encapsulate all (ALL) the
incredible aquatic adventures
Wyoming’s water has to offer.
Once you’ve enjoyed the
incredible beauty of Flaming
Gorge that should have its
own paragraph because it’s so
fantastic, be sure to check out
Seedskadee (and impress your
party with your knowledge of
its meaning, a Shoshone word
meaning “river of the prairie
hen”). It’s an incredible area
for outdoor recreation, but
also wildlife viewing. A whole
feature could be written on
these two alone – fortunately
for us all, tourwyoming.com
has a whole site devoted to its
awesomeness.
• Bear River State Park,
Southwest Wyoming: This
lovely park extremely close to
Evanston is just a joy. Families
can have a day full of fun
here, and outdoor recreation
opportunities abound. Plus it’s
super close to the quaint and
lovely Evanston Downtown
area, with shops and
restaurants to enjoy when your
day on the water is at an end.
• Miracle Mile, Central
Wyoming: Find it in Carbon
County from Sinclair or Hanna
(visit wyomingcarboncounty.
com for driving instructions,
as well as information on
nearby Seminoe State Park).
This aptly-named section of
the North Platte River carries
trophy fishing records and
views to match. Casper-area
fishing specialists are also
great sources of information
on the miracles to behold in
this stretch of fishing heaven. W L M
