WLM | my Wyoming craving
but that was still during the film era,
so I didn’t take as nearly as many as I
would have liked. It took me a while
to make the transition to digital.
I don’t know why it took me so
long - you can shoot and shoot and
shoot! I have to say that landscape
photography is my absolute
favorite. There is just something
about getting out in nature and
appreciating the beauty of this world
that is all around us.
WLM: What inspires you?
DO: Wow... this is a tough one. I
don’t consider myself a very artistic
person. Photography does not come
easy to me. The way I see things
may not appeal to other people.
What inspires me is the challenge of
finding something that I would love
to have framed and on my wall at
home. Something that speaks to me
like a memory does. There are times
when I go weeks without picking
up my camera. Sometimes life just
gets in the way. But, there are also
times when I just NEED to be taking
photos.
WLM: How long have you lived in
Wyoming?
DO: I have lived in Wyoming for 38
years now. We moved to Cheyenne
when my dad got stationed at F.E.
Warren back in the 70’s.
WLM: If you could go anywhere in
the world to take photos for one
day, perfect conditions, etc., where
would it be and why?
DO: I used to think it would be
Australia or New Zealand, however,
I see a lot of photos on Instagram
from Romania that are absolutely
breath taking! There are gorgeous
images of abandoned buildings and
places. It makes me wonder why are
these places just left behind? What
are their stories? The history that has
to be behind some of these places
must be incredible. I have often said
if money were not an issue, I would
travel the world with my camera..
