you ever have the chance to visit with
Dr. Roberts or to sit in on one of his
presentations, you are in for a treat – he
is a walking encyclopedia of Wyoming
history! I asked Dr. Roberts if he had
a good source for information on the
town of Sinclair and the hotel. Without
hesitation, he remembered Gregory D.
Kendrick’s article, “The Town of Parco,”
in Annals of Wyoming. He took me to
the shelf of Annals periodicals in the
archives, flipping expertly to volume 54,
issue #1 from Spring of 1983. It was
impressive to say the least.
Mr. Kendrick’s article gives an efficient
history of the establishment of PARCO
and the community that bore its name
from the early 1920s until 1942. His
article provided me with much of
the information that you are reading

in this feature, and I am appreciative
to Mr. Kendrick for such a nice
capture of history. Many know that the
original name of the town of Sinclair
is Parco, the name of the oil company
that founded the town. PARCO, an
acronym for Producers and Refiners
Corporation, was founded in 1915 by
Frank Kistler. Born in 1882 on a North
Carolina plantation, Frank Kistler was
