I
n our last issue, we took a look at the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln Highway. When it came to
images for the article, I headed to one of my favorite places in all of Wyoming, the Wyoming State
Archives, housed within the same building as the Wyoming State Museum in Cheyenne. If you ever
want to touch Wyoming history, this is the place to do it. I tell them every time I’m in there, “You have the
COOLEST job.” And without fail the response is, “I know!”
When I was collecting photos from Sinclair for the feature, I came across the Parco Hotel. Being a fan of
design, the images made me pause. This is a beautiful, Spanish Colonial structure that was captured by
equally stunning, black & white images from the 1920s. I had no clue that such a beautiful, historic hotel
existed in Sinclair – I was fascinated to learn more! While at the archives researching the hotel, I had the
good fortune of seeing Dr. Phil Roberts, University of Wyoming history professor, visiting with the staff. If
