WLM
| my Wyoming craving
wildlife. I approach wildlife with
respect, walking slowly, keeping a safe
distance, and observing how they are
reacting to my movements. Wildlife
photography also requires some
patience and knowing the behavior of
species I am photographing. I have
stood in sub-zero weather for hours to
capture one image.
WLM: How did you go about
researching The Hidden Wyoming
Project?
BJ: It has really been a ‘boots on the
ground’ type of approach to research.
I will spend time reviewing maps to get
a general idea of an area but most of
my actual research is spent driving and
hiking, looking for scenery that I feel
would create compelling images. This
often requires multiple trips to locations
in order to capture the image I am
looking for. It is on these trips that I
see more of the state, and not just new
places, but each time I visit a location I
see it a little differently.
