No Place Like Home
Summer came, and left too quickly. It’s really been one whirlwind of a year and I’m not sure how I made it out alive. From being part of the CI Club to volunteering as a GL for FOC’13 and even being News Editor for the Nanyang Chronicle, many who knew the level of my commitments considered me crazy. And maybe they’re right. Still, the honest reason why these commitments feel less of a chore is probably because I really enjoy school life. Right from the get-go, the whole “WKW is a family” culture has been really loud. In all honesty, I was skeptical about it. However, after getting to know my peers and my seniors, I slowly grew to love this family. One of the main events organized in the school year, which I really enjoy, is Homecoming. Beyond the free beer and music, Homecoming is also a time to meet old friends and make new ones. Being able to return as a senior made this year’s Homecoming mean so much more. It made me appreciate the friendships I have made through all the crazy involvements I was a part of in the past year. From hanging out with the freshmen to listening to seniors recount their exchange experiences, seeing everyone back here at WKW was indeed a great way to begin this academic year. With more crazy involvement plans up my sleeves, I know that things will probably get tougher. But what makes it all worthwhile is being able to contribute back to a community of people who have constantly made my university life fulfilling. So here’s to another crazy year ahead filled with fun and uncertainty. Hopefully, when yet another Homecoming comes around, may we meet and share the same joy as we see one another through each year in the Wee Kim Wee School. Finally, to all my friends here in the WKW family, “Welcome home”.
