This festival is celebrated to show respect
to the forty followers of Guru Gobind Singh.
These followers had left the Guru alone and
had gone to fight with the Mughal army forces.
They were martyred in Muktsar. Guru Gobind
Singh Ji had blessed these forty immortals by
liberating them and cremating them in Muktsar.
