Deliveries report recently, said
that it will be now be focussing
on quality and efficiency of
production, rather than only
trying to generate maximum
volume in the shortest time.
It is now aiming to achieve
a production speed of 2,500
Model 3s per week by March
2018. Eventually Tesla plans
to double it up by the end
of June. Tesla delivered
just 1,550 Model 3s in the
final quarter of last year,
in the 3rd quarter of 2017
delivered only about 222 all
electric affordable sedans, a
number far lesser than what
was promised by Musk. The
hopeful people who have paid
their 1000$ amounts to be in
the waitlist may not be very
happy with these numbers
and progress of events.
According to Elon Musk’s
calculation, he had predicted
that his production line
would be fully engaged and
capable of cranking out 5000
cars per week by the end of
the year 2017. In a letter to
the company’s investors he
has changed the target to
March 2018. He called this “
a relatively small shift” in the
“grand scheme of things”.
