126th Bill Amendment- Lok Sabha Extends
Reservation For SC/ST
A new amendment in
constitution was introduced very
recently in Lok Sabha. It is 126th
bill amendment which extends
the reservation of Scheduled
Caste and Scheduled Tribes for
next 10 years.
The reservation that is given to
the Anglo Indian community,
SC/ST is going to be ended by
January 25th, 2030.
Previously, the government
made a request to Supreme
Court to reconsider that SC
and ST communities should be
excluded from the benefits of
reservations with the stands-
economically, socially and
educationally.
The bill was passed
unanimously with the favorable
votes of 352 members and
none against it. Prime Minister
Narendra Modi was present
in the house during the voting
process.
Congress President Sonia
Gandhi and party leader Rahul
Gandhi dint come their presence
on the day of constitution
amendment. Hence, the BJP
members took the place of
opposition benches. As it was
a constitution amendment, it is
need of division the Lok Sabha.
