Aruna Asaf Ali
Aruna Asaf Ali is known for hoisting the Congress flag
during Quit Indian movement in 1942. She was called as
“Heroine of The Quit Indian Movement”. She also took
part in Salt Satyagraha and she was jailed as part of the
protest result. She gave a much needed push for the
people, during Quit Indian Movement. The inspirational
freedom fighter was elected as first Mayor of Delhi. She
won many awards and she also received International
Lenin Peace Prize in 1964 and the Bharat Ratna 1977.
Post independence, she encouraged women education.
Captain Prem Mathur-
Commercial pilot
Captain Mathur was the first female commercial pilot
in India. She was rejected by eight private airlines,
just because she is a woman. Later, she secured a
the desired job in Deccan Airways. She was a huge
inspiration for other women who wanted to stand for their
passion. Mathur’s attempt for her successful career made
a positive change. We cant be proud enough to salute
this lady with braveness.
Sarla Thakral
Thakral is the first Indian woman to fly an aircraft. In the
year 1936, she got her aviation pilot license. Everything
was going well in her life but there was shock arrived her
way with her husband’s death. After recovering from the
shock, Thakral again applied for the commercial pilot
position. But it was not successful due to world war 2. She
returned to Lahore and studied fine arts in Bengal School
Of Painting. She also obtained a diploma in fine arts.
Being a great follower of Arya Samaj, she got married
again. She started establishing herself in painting and as
an entrepreneur.
