Elementary Celebrates Halloween On the week before Halloween, the elementary department gathered together and viewed the 2009 Halloween ASL DVD. The DVD generated many creative ideas for doing ASL poetry, song, and drama. The students practiced their own Halloween ASL poetry, drama, and stories before making their final presentations in the bilingual language arts lab. The entries were published on a Halloween ASL 2010 DVD. On Wednesday, October 27, the students wore a variety of cute, scary, and creative Halloween costumes. They paraded around the campus, greeting WSD staff and receiving treats. WSD director of curriculum and instruction Constance Gartner and her office associate Joan Knowlton transformed themselves into beautiful queens and handed out treats. By the end of Trick or Treating, the exhausted pre-schoolers dragged around bags weighing more than their own weight. The party continued after Trick or Treating, with the children playing games and having a blast watching the Halloween ASL 2010 DVD they had made. Fall 2010 - 7
