Last December 2009, WSD suffered quite a shock with the death of high school student Joshua Jordan. This year, the student body
wanted to honor the memory of their beloved classmate. Teacher Rene Ambrose offered meeting times and dates to any high school
students who wanted to become involved. After several meetings, the students voted to plant a tree and place an engraved stone at the
base of the tree. The plans progressed: coffee collection cans and posters were made; monetary donations were collected; a hole was
dug; JJ’s family was invited to attend.
