WSD vs. Berean 16-35
In the eleventh game of the season,
WSD Firebirds fell to Berean after
falling apart in the first quarter and were
outscored 0-14. The scores throughout
the rest of the game were competitive.
WSD was just unable to climb back and
close the 14 point deficit from the first
quarter. In this game, Mayra Castrejon
and Kati Sympson led with eight and
six points, respectively.
WSD vs. Ohio (CSSD) 21-54
In the opener of the CSSD tournament,
WSD Firebirds folded under withering
fire from Ohio Deaf. At half-time the
scores were 2-25. WSD performed
somewhat better in the second half
scoring 19-29. In this effort, Kati
Sympson was the sole star of the team
garnering 15 of WSD’s 21 points for the
team.
WSD vs. Kansas (CSSD) 24-40
Kansas Deaf led throughout the
entire game against WSD Firebirds.
In this game, Kati Sympson was the
leading scorer with 10 points and nine
rebounds. Jessica Scott contributed with
five points and four rebounds.
WSD vs. Missouri (CSSD) 27-39
WSD was swept with three losses in
the CSSD tournament hosted at Indiana
School for the Deaf when they lost
to Missouri. In this loss, the scores
were 13-33 by the end of the third
quarter. WSD tried to fight back with
a 14-6 effort during fourth quarter but
it was not enough to close the deal.
In this effort, Kati Sympson was the
undisputed leader with 17 points and
five steals. Mayra Castrejon helped out
with five points and four assists.
