that are out in the industry. I wanted to make my products more
cost effective though so I could give everyone some luxury in
their makeup bags without it costing a fortune. We have a new
line coming out soon and we are always planning and pushing
our products. The top seller is the ‘mother of pearl’ highlighter
and the ‘ombrow’.
What is the most important lesson you have learnt over your
professional years?
I would say to take chances and always listen to your gut
instinct as it is always right.
You have recently announced you will be holding an under
18’s charity makeup masterclass – this is such an incredible
idea, could you tell us more?
We’re offering a masterclass in aid of NSPCC, the class will
be £15 with every penny being donated to this incredible
charity. We are so inspired by their work around our local
community we wanted to give something back. We have had
over 300 students wanting to book onto the masterclass so we
are yet to hold a meeting to find a bigger location in order to
accommodate for everybody. We’re so excited for this as we feel
so strongly about the cause.
I imagine you do not have much free time being a top
business woman in the North West, but what do you enjoy
apart from makeup?
I have quite minimal free time but when I do get some I enjoy
going to the gym and doing as much activities as possible. I am
always up and about on a Sunday, whether it is horse riding or
just a walk. The most important thing I do is spending time
with my family and my boyfriend. I have recently just bought
a house so I am all about interior design at the minute. I love
being able to choose all the décor and interior – it is my little
project at the minute.
If you could say one thing to your 18 year old self, what
would it be?
It would be to never regret anything. Never look back on the
past and never overthink negativity. You must always channel
your energy into positivity and that way you are sure to succeed.

Coming from the Wirral, do you enjoy spending time here?
I adore the Wirral and will always live on the Wirral. I have
always worked in Liverpool but Wirral is my home and home is
where the heart is. I love all of the country pubs and beautiful
scenic walks and being able to visit the amazing Wirral
coastline on a summers day. The Wirral is where I will bring my
children up!
Where does you biggest support system lay? Do you have a
close relationship with your family?
When I was younger it wasn't the greatest upbringing. I must
admit I do have quite a dysfunctional family but when it comes
down to it my family is my biggest support. My mum, dad,
brother, boyfriend and cousin are all my biggest fans and want
me to succeed in everything I do. They are the ones who have
always pushed me to be the best possible version of myself I can
be. Whenever I have had self doubt or been knocked back by
criticism and negativity, they are the ones to pick me back up
and give me the confidence to go on even when I have felt like
giving up at times.
Finally, here at Wirral Life we are so very excited to welcome
you to our team – please tell us all about your new beauty
column and what we can expect to see in the future.
When I was first approached to do this I felt so honoured. To
be able to write for a magazine that focuses everything around
my favourite place in the world is such an amazing opportunity.
For our beauty article I have teamed up with the current beauty
editor Annabel Birtles, who I am very excited to work with,
to give the reader a little glimpse of the life of Katie Hayes
with monthly makeup tips, the hottest new beauty products,
everything hair and beauty and even some step-by-step guides
on creating the perfect glam. We have already had so much
fun writing the first article together by coming up with new
concepts and I am sure we will continue to grow and create an
amazing beauty column for you all to enjoy.
