TRANMERE ROVERS GARDEN PROGRESS
Our inside man at Prenton Park , Martyn Best , provides an update on the very exciting new fan park at Tranmere Rovers .
It was a dark , drizzly , winter evening at Prenton Park , and yet there was a buzz of expectation in the air .
Was it for the forthcoming vital fixture against promotionchasing rivals Mansfield Town ? Was it the return of the everpopular Friday night football to Birkenhead ? Or was it the latest development in the irresistible and much-awaited new fan park . Dear readers – it was all three .
Our footballing fans will know the glorious outcome of the first two elements , which resulted in a tingling last-minute goal for Tranmere in a pulsating 3-2 victory , which moved them back into serious contention for an automatic promotion position .
However , enough of the football , let us return to what is developing into one of the most exciting hospitality venues in the Wirral , and one for which Wirral Life , as media sponsor to the club has a very keen interest .
The new fan park , or increasingly known as Tranmere Garden , is a three way partnership between the club , the Tranmere Rovers Trust and German Kraft Beer . Just prior to the game , all three parties signed the formal Heads of Terms to move forward with this project , and gave the exclusive news to Wirral Life that they hope to start on the build for this before May of this year , with a hopeful opening date in September .
Ben Harrison of the Tranmere Rovers Trust who has played an integral part in leading the fundraising for the project said , “ This is a really important step in bringing this dream to reality . We have had such amazing generosity from our fans in supporting this project and it was so good to be able to announce this next important landmark .”
German Kraft Beer were also showcasing their product within the existing marquee . Florian Bollen , William Franklin and Helen Hu who are our partners in this venture , were on hand to share project details with fans and could see the visible increase in excitement at the prospect of Tranmere getting such an iconic fan-zone . As Florian said , “ The fans have really got behind this project , and we are delighted to be a partner with Tranmere and the Trust . We are looking forward to beginning work in May and justifying the great support we have had since announcing our plans last year .”
The Tranmere Garden will be underpinned by around 30 home matches , but will also be open throughout the week , and it is expected to become a much-loved destination for all groups of people across the Wirral and the wider region . The team hope to attract many major functions , weddings and more formal dinners , and also be available for a wide range of events .
In fact , Wirral Life have confirmed that they will be holding their future events at the Tranmere Garden such as the much-loved Wirral Life Awards which will be returning this year . More details of this will be announced soon .
Tranmere ’ s chairman , Mark Palios declared , “ I have been really impressed at the progress of our new fan park and am personally becoming very excited at this new offering as part of the wider Tranmere family . The Trust and German Kraft Beer are bringing a level of professionalism and experience which will help make our match day experience even more special . I ’ m also delighted that Wirral Life will be bringing their events to us . I have fond memories of Tranmere Rovers winning the Outstanding Contribution to Leisure and Tourism Award in the Wirral Life Awards 2018 . It wasn ’ t as good as winning promotion , but it was very close .”
