MIKE MCGEAR ALBUM LAUNCH
Mike McCartney launched the deluxe reissue of his
1974 album “McGear”, written with his brother Paul
McCartney and Wings, at the Liverpool Institute of
Performing Arts (LIPA) on the 18th June.
Alongside the album launch Mike exhibited his
“Weirdos” animation project in conjunction with
artist Peter Miller and Edge Hill University. Originally
released in 1974, McGear was the second solo album
by Mike McGear (McCartney) and was a more
“serious” record than his work with the Liverpool
satirical trio Scaffold, featuring John Gorman (see
right) or his work with Roger McGough on the
“McGough & McGear” album.
The long awaited reissue of “McGear” has been
prepared with the full involvement of Mike and has
been newly re-mastered from the original master
tapes and has been cut at the famous Abbey Road
Studios. The set also includes a DVD featuring
Mike reminiscing at LIPA, an interview with Mike
at the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool and the 1974
promotional film for the single ‘Leave It’.
We are giving away a rare DeLuxe box set of the
McGear Album and extras to a lucky reader...
