DON’T MISS RARE OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE
FROM ROYAL LIVERPOOL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
Tickets are on sale now for a very special concert in Wirral
taking place this September with the world leading Royal
Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra set for an unforgettable
performance in majestic Birkenhead Park.
This unmissable event will be a highlight of Wirral’s Borough of
Culture year and is part of an incredible series of exciting events
in Birkenhead Park – from the gastronomic excellence of the
Wirral Food & Drink Festival taking place over the weekend of
Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September to the Tour of Britain stage
on Wednesday 11 September.
The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra will take to
the stage at 7.30pm on Saturday 7 September to perform a
mesmerising programme of popular classics, show tunes and
exciting film standards, under the baton of conductor, Richard
Balcombe. Showcasing music from composers as diverse as
Bizet, Lennon and McCartney, John Williams, Holst and others,
including some very special interpretations of Merseyside crowd
pleasers, this full concert performance will be a spectacular and
awe-inspiring experience for audiences of all ages.
Liverpool-born international mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnston
will also join the Orchestra at this special concert. Speaking
about the event, she said: “What a delight to perform with this
wonderful Orchestra in such a beautiful local setting, celebrating
both the music of Merseyside and Wirral’s Borough of Culture
year. Looking forward to seeing lots of familiar faces in the
audience!”
Cllr Christine Spriggs, Cabinet Member for Culture and Tourism
said: “We are thrilled that the Liverpool Philharmonic’s only
outdoor concert in 2019 will take place in treasured Birkenhead
Park as part of Wirral’s Borough of Culture year. Music lovers
from Wirral and beyond will I know want to come to very special
event and make memories to last a lifetime.
“The concert is taking place during an unbelievably exciting time
for the borough during the weekend of the first annual Wirral
Food & Drink Festival and as we look forward to the Tour of

The Borough of Culture initiative was introduced by the
Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and is designed to
encourage cultural activities across the region.
The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra performance in
Birkenhead Park is sponsored by Biffa. Gary Robinson, Senior

Tickets are priced at £15.00 / £12.50 (concessions) with up
to 2 children free per adult ticket (a small charge applies for
