So , I was thinking possibly £ 1200 over the 12 months and that would be amazing . But I didn ’ t think so many people would get behind me and it just took off . I had a Just Giving page , people were donating from all over the place . The best thing to take away from all this was being able to continually raise awareness of Claire House every month of the year .
How much did you raise by the end of the year ? We raised £ 5425 . More than five times what we set out to do and I was absolutely delighted ! We were able to fund a great deal of nursing care at Claire House which was fantastic .
You feel it ’ s important to have an incredibly positive outlook on life , don ’ t you ? I believe you react to the environment around you whether that ’ s in work or the friends you have around you socially . I met a former soldier a few years ago who had been seriously injured in the line of duty . He was a triple amputee . He ’ s lost both legs and his arm . His attitude to life changed my life from that day . The positivity that radiated from this man was awe inspiring . I have never had ‘ a bad day at the office ’ since . He made me realise that you must count your blessings , you must be positive and inspire others to be the same so that ’ s how I try to love life . It takes one decision to change your life .
