LOUISE FUDGE: FROM POP STARDOM TO COLOUR SPECIALIST EXTRAORDINAIRE
BY LOUISE FUDGE
Louise Fudge, resident Hair Colour Specialist for Wirral Life, recently returned to the stage in spectacular fashion to mark 25 years since Supersisters hit single I Like My Men Like I Like My Coffee first made waves on the charts. Performing in front of 30,000 fans, it was a nostalgic and powerful moment for Louise one that reflected just how far she’ s come since her early days in the music industry.
After signing a five-album deal in 2000 with fellow bandmates Eleanor Phillips and Tina Peacock, Supersister enjoyed chart success with three hit singles, including Coffee, which resonated strongly with the LGBTQ + community and reached the UK Top 20. Though music played a defining role in her early career, it was hairdressing that became Louise’ s true calling.
Now celebrating two decades as a colour specialist in Heswall, on the Wirral, Louise has become one of the most sought-after colourists in the North West. Her reputation stretches far beyond the peninsula, attracting clients from Manchester, North Wales, Liverpool, and across the region. In 2017, she was awarded Colour Technician of the Year by the English Hair and Beauty Awards, just one of many accolades that reflect her deep passion and exceptional skill.
Louise specialises in lived-in colour, complex colour correction, and bespoke, personalised colour transformations. Whether helping clients embrace natural grey blending or transitioning
from untreated hair to radiant new shades, her approach is rooted in careful consultation and a deep understanding of colour theory and individual palette. Her artistry is also grounded in personal experience. Having battled with hormonal imbalances, hair challenges, and more recently, breast cancer in 2023, Louise has become a strong advocate for low-chemical lifestyles. These values guide her professional ethos today, with a commitment to safer, gentler colouring practices and an emphasis on premium products and proper home care routines.
Before she was a hair icon, Louise was learning from some of the best in the business, including five years under the expert care of celebrity colourist Daniel Galvin Jr. Those formative years in London helped her appreciate the importance of precision, product quality, and the confidence that comes from feeling good in your hair.
Louise’ s journey from the pop charts to colouring charts, from soldout venues to the intimate setting of her Heswall salon is a story of reinvention, resilience, and creative passion. Through every transformation, she has remained grounded, grateful, and driven by a desire to help others feel their most vibrant and confident selves.
