Dominik Liu is an exceptional young man whose achievements , character , and dedication to martial arts make him a standout candidate for the Pride of Wirral Award .
Dominik Liu , a 16-year-old martial arts sensation from the Wirral , is the winner of the 2024 Pride of Wirral Award . Dominik ’ s journey in martial arts began at the age of 4 when he started training at his father ’ s club , China Spirit UK ( CSUK ). Since then , he has become a national and international martial arts champion , recognized for his outstanding achievements and dedication to his craft .
Dominik has been the national kung fu champion every year since 2014 . He earned his first international medal — a silver — at the 2017 European Shaolin Championship in Hungary . In 2018 , he achieved two gold medals at the European Kung Fu Championship in Moscow . His global successes continued with a 7th-place finish at the 2022 World Junior Championship in Indonesia , a bronze medal at the 2023 World Kung Fu Championship in China , and an 8th-place finish at the 2024 World Junior Championship in Brunei . Having competed in around 20 national and international championships , Dominik has consistently returned with medals , demonstrating exceptional skill and perseverance .

Balancing his training with academic pursuits , Dominik attends LIPA 6th Form College , where he is following his dream of becoming the next Jackie Chan by combining martial arts and performance arts . Outside of training and studying , Dominik enjoys spending time with his friends , playing Xbox , and watching The Big Bang Theory- typical activities for a teenager , though Dominik is anything but ordinary .
Dominik is currently seeking sponsors to support his journey toward becoming a professional athlete .

Dominik ’ s training routine is nothing short of inspiring . He trains over five hours a week at CSUK and travels to Derby every Saturday for an additional three-hour session with the British Wushu team . In addition to honing his skills , Dominik dedicates more than four hours a week to coaching younger students at CSUK , sharing his expertise and passion for martial arts .
