AWARD-WINNING CHINA SPIRIT UK : BRINGING HEALTH , CULTURE , AND COMMUNITY TO THE WIRRAL
China Spirit UK ( CSUK ) is a not-for-profit organisation and social enterprise that was founded in 2012 and built on the foundation of Spirit of Chinese Kung Fu , which has been serving Wirral and Merseyside since 2006 . Our organisation has been delivering a range of activities to improve health and well-being to all age groups , from children to adults .
CSUK specialises in Traditional Chinese cultural and well-being activities , including Tai Chi , Qi Gong , Kung Fu and Wushu , San Shou ( Chinese Kickboxing ), Yoga , Mandarin Language and Traditional Chinese Lion Dance . CSUK provides a holistic approach to physical and mental health that caters to individuals of all ages , abilities , and backgrounds . Their mission is to inspire personal growth , resilience , and community connection , fostering a positive and supportive environment .
Tai Chi classes , at the core of their offerings , are known for their gentle , flowing movements that promote physical strength , flexibility , and balance . Tai Chi also provides profound mental benefits such as stress reduction and helping you find calm and peace in your daily life . They work together with The National Lottery Community Fund , which allows them to offer these sessions free of charge .
Kung Fu is a cornerstone of their offerings , providing physical training and a disciplined approach to mental and emotional wellbeing . Kung Fu teaches perseverance , self-discipline , and respect — essential for personal development and community harmony . The kickboxing program combines high-energy workouts with selfdefence techniques . These classes are designed to be challenging and accessible , suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners . These classes are funded by Sport England , so they are also offered free of charge . Yoga classes complement these practices and provide a comprehensive physical and mental well-being pathway .
Every year , around the Chinese New Year , the CSUK Chinese Lion Dance Troupe visits local schools , community centres , and restaurants with its Chinese Lions and martial arts performances to help celebrate and educate people about Chinese culture .
Furthermore , CSUK regularly hosts social gatherings and community events designed to foster connection and reduce the sense of isolation .
These events unite people from all walks of life , creating a diverse and vibrant community where everyone feels welcome and valued . Examples of these gatherings are the celebration of the annual World Kung Fu Days and World Tai Chi Days . We celebrate with Pop-up sessions in New Brighton by the Fort , where everyone can experience the art of Chinese culture , and it is open for everyone to join .
CSUK is proud of its commitment to inclusion and accessibility . They believe that health and well-being should be accessible to everyone , so they offer free sessions for those who are financially disadvantaged or facing hardship . This initiative has been particularly impactful post-COVID , as many individuals and families have struggled with the financial and emotional toll of the pandemic . By providing free access to the programs , they help alleviate some of these burdens , offering a safe and supportive space for recovery and growth .
Team China Spirit UK is 16 of their most dedicated children and adults aged 7 to 45 . They train at a high level and attend national and international kung fu / wushu competitions .
The last two years The Team CSUK won together :
• 22 Golds
• 16 Silver
• 18 Bronze
The positive impact of their work is evident in the feedback they receive from participants . Many have reported significant improvements in their physical health , mental well-being , and overall quality of life . CSUK ’ s programs have helped individuals regain strength and confidence , build new friendships , and find a renewed sense of purpose .
In conclusion , CSUK is more than just a provider of health and wellbeing services ; it is a community hub that supports the physical , mental , and social well-being of the Wirral community .
Great news ! CSUK has been awarded funds from the National Lottery to offer free Tai Chi sessions for the community .
