ANSELMIANS RUGBY OPENS ITS DOORS TO THE SALVATION ARMY
Eastham Pavilion , the brand new home of Anselmians Rugby and the community hub of Eastham Village has thrown open the doors this Christmas to The Salvation Army and the charitable giving campaign for those in need this festive season . The phrase “ Charity begins at home ” has been firmly grasped by the club and all of its members who continue to involve themselves with the local community and the charitable efforts of the wider Wirral .
Like communities around the country they come together to help and support those less fortunate than themselves .
It is this principle that led to the club seeking opportunities to work with partners in creating the first Anselmians Donation Day in collaboration with the Salvation Army .
On Saturday December 5th 2020 Anselmians Rugby Club and The Salvation Army asked members of the club , and the wider community , to pop down to The Eastham Pavilion on Eastham Village Road with a donation of either clothing / toys or tinned goods to donate in order to help and support families in need over the Christmas period .
Ravi Sibal , Club Chairman , was quoted saying “ Charity and family are at the heart of Anselmians RUFC , we are keen to move the ethos of the club forward given the significant investment we have made in the club . The opportunity to be a hub for the community to come together and give to the Salvation Army and the families who are finding this year especially tough is one that we relish . This year we have been busy working with the local community and have had a kind donation of a magnificent Christmas Tree from Autosave in
Eastham Village , that brightened up the mood at the event , in the club and with the community . We have a thriving social committee who are keen to hold Covid safe events going forward .”
We are particularly grateful for our community partners B & Q Bidston and Hurst ’ s Bakery , who have contributed to make the event possible .
Donations are provided to the residents of Wirral most in need , and what are challenging times in normal circumstances have been made worse this year with the onset of CoVid 19 . As we start to see light at the end of a very dark tunnel it is becoming more and more crucial that those who can do .
In addition there is a real community feel developing down at ‘ The Pavillion ’ with the introduction of a new level of membership .
The Social membership is designed for those individuals who may not be drawn to the rugby side of things but would still like to take advantage of the many social occasions on offer . The bar and restaurant facilities available are second to none and the joi de vivre is there for all to see .
For just £ 5 per month the social package offers lots of benefits and money off deals to make it the community hub with a real difference . So if you ’ re looking for an inclusive club representing the community with the sporting principles of a family run rugby club at its heart then look no further than the indomitable Anselmians and their Eastham Pavilion . wirrallife . com 17
