WIRRAL BUSINESS by Wirral Chamber of Commerce THE JUDGING PANEL WIRRAL BUSINESS AWARDS 2017 The finalists for the Wirral Business Awards 2017 have been announced. The shortlist consists of 40 organisations, who will now compete across ten categories with winners being announced at the gala dinner held at Thornton Manor on 22nd September. Organised by Wirral Chamber of Commerce and now in its eleventh year, the event is supported by headline sponsors Progress to Excellence Group Ltd and Russell Taylor Group. standard of entries this year have again been extremely high and consequently was very difficult choosing those which are going forward to the next stage, but I offer my congratulations to all the applicants and finalists.” Speaking of the applications, Ben Miller thought, “The entries for this year’s Wirral Business Awards are well placed to achieve even greater business success in the year ahead. I am delighted that Wirral has a thriving business community which is bringing innovation and success to the area.” Recognised as one of the region’s largest and most prestigious business events, it highlights the innovation and enterprise the community has in making Wirral and the wider city region as locations of business excellence. Alan Evans summarised, “Wirral Council is proud to be part of the Wirral Business Awards 2017, and the diversity of the companies entering this year, large and small, new and established, was outstanding and will all play key roles in Wirral’s future business growth.” A four-strong judging panel decided which entries made it through to the final in each category, comprising Chris Fry (Office Senior Partner at KPMG in the UK), Ben Miller (Partner at DLA Piper), Alan Evans (Strategic Commissioner for Growth for Wirral Council) and Paula Basnett (CEO of Wirral Chamber of Commerce). It is expected that more than 500 leading business people will attend the Gala Dinner at Thornton Manor on September 22nd when the awards will be presented on what promises to be one of the region's largest business networking events of the year. Paula Basnett said, "We are very proud to organise this annual event on behalf of our business community. This year we received a record number of entries and the quality excelled which made the judging extremely difficult. However, I am confident that the chosen finalists are great ambassadors in representing the best of Wirral’s businesses."
