The fire is spreading at a speed of 100 miles per hour in LA , destroying everything in its path . Over 153,000 people were told to evacuate from their home , over 166,000 people are under evacuation warnings , and over 12,000 structures have been demolished by the raging fire as of mid-January 2025 . The flame started in the Palisades Highlands , now rushing for its next destination , Brentwood . There is some speculation that a single criminal started the fire , leaving a whole city to suffer . “ It may be the fire equivalent of a Category 5 hurricane ,” said Pyne , a professor emeritus at Arizona State University .

" LA is dying , and we have nothing we can do about it ."

The LA fire first made its appearance on Tuesday , January 7th , 2025 . Since then , everything was chaos . When I first heard of the news , I thought of it as a normal event , like the typical fire that happens thousands of times each year in LA , but as soon as I realized that it ’ s still spreading , and that many people were evacuating , I knew it was much more than every year pattern . It has already covered 40,000 acres in just few days , taking several lives , plus with strong winds blowing 100 miles per hour to help the flames to increase and make it impossible for airplanes to splash water to the ruined , hopeless , flaming earth underneath .
I can ’ t imagine what it ’ s like to live in a city with an unstoppable fire and leaving everything behind . Once I saw a nearby building that caught on fire , and I was totally freaked out . It must be the same feeling but 10 times more for the people
