Christmas Eve( December 24th) Christmas( December 25th, 26th)
In Poland, Advent is the beginning of Christmas Time. It ' s a time when we try to be peaceful and remember the real reason for Christmas. During Advent, we prepare our houses for Christmas. Everything must be clean. Christmas Eve is known as Wigilia. Traditionally, we decorate the Christmas tree that day. The main Christmas meal is eaten in the evening. It ' s a tradition that no food is eaten until the first star is seen in the sky! So children look at the night sky to spot the first star! On the table there are 12 dishes. Everyone has to eat or at least try each dish. We sing carols together and then the presents are opened. Christmas Eve is finished by going to Church for a Midnight Mass service. The days after Christmas are often spent with family and friends.
