Artist Spotlight
Dan Colonna was born in Cleveland Ohio, although
Central Florida has been his home for the past 29
years. Dan was interested in the classic painting
methods of the masters. Unable to find an education
program that focused on these techniques, he decided
to take matters into his own hands. He began a quest
to obtain as much knowledge as he could on fine art
techniques. Through research, trial and error, Dan
developed a unique classical realist style of art. He
divides his time between drawing and oil painting,
primarily focusing on portrait and figurative subjects.
“These three paintings represent
the internal and external struggles
of the healing process. From one
perspective the radiation and
pharmaceuticals have helped
keep me alive. However, they
have also taken their toll on me
physically and mentally. The Día
de Muertos (Day of the Dead) piece
is a portrait of my wife Rhonda.
Representing what the uncertain
future has looming over her head.”
Dan currently resides in Winter Garden, Florida. He is available for
commission work and offers private art lessons at his home studio.
