railroads are an integral part of historic Winter Garden ’ s economy and community . When Lake Apopka was a booming vacation and fishing destination , visitors would travel to Winter Garden by train and settle in at the Edgewater Hotel . It ’ s been said that Hollywood iconic actors , Humphrey Bogart and Clark Gable , rode the rails to come to Winter Garden to fish the then bass-filled lake ! The Central Florida Railroad museum is perfect for all ages . Along with all the adult-sized fun and trips down memory lane , kids can enjoy the HO scale train layout and check out the Caboose . So much to do , learn and explore .
Currently , the museum is expanding . With the help of volunteers offering their personal time and skills , the museum is working to give visitors and residents of WG an even better experience . The museum will be able to host more events , expand their exhibits and continue to share Winter Garden ’ s train and railway history . If you ’ ve never been to the museum or perhaps have stopped by in the past when you have visitors in town , don ’ t hesitate to spend some time inside ! It ’ s open every day from 1pm - 5pm , and so much is going on . The Central Florida Railroad Museum is a fun and educational time capsule , which will leave you appreciating our amazing city all the more .
