Road trips are such a fun part of this hobby . This time of year they are not as frequent due to weather and the fact most of the shows start in the spring and end in the fall . So the most recent beer road trip was the Schell ’ s Border Batch annual Christmas party in New Ulm .
Me and Mark Walker headed up the party on Saturday morning . Judy wasn ’ t able to attend this year . The Pinball Palace was the site once again for the start of the party with the beer , sociallizing , craft beer exchange and pot luck . The food was amazing as always . Not as many did the beer exchange , but there was some really good beers on the table . Around 1:30 we made our way to the B & L for the antique beer tasting and small auction . We tried some old and interesting beers some reported to be “ not bad ” and some downright nasty ! A good time was had by all . Now in the new year Judy and I will be heading to Michigan for a photo class for our Laser Engraver . We ’ ll be close to Vicksburg and the NABA museum project . Dr . Hamm ’ s is going to arrange a tour for us . We can ’ t wait to see it . On the way back we ’ ll stop and see Joe Kay “ The Lamp Man ” and Patrick Moore in Chi Town . We bought one of Joe ’ s Rat Pack lamps and will bring that home . Also in February we ’ ll be making a short trip to St . Peter to bring home my Zoller Pirate cardboard that Amanda Malkin has been restoring . Can ’ t wait to see him in his glory . We ’ ll be off to Key West later in February , so unfortunately we won ’ t make the Hamm ’ s show . Then it ’ s March and the Spring shows get underway in full swing . We ’ re planning on being at Springfest at Evertt McClay , Springding at Schell ’ s and as many others as we can make . Cornhusker chapter has a new show in June . Later in the year Bago Bash is back in September this year . Guzzle is late September and Mankato Show is being planned for Nov 18th . We also are looking forward to some cool projects with the new Laser engraver . Should be a busy year ! Here ’ s to finding your holy grail for your collection . See you at the shows .
