Game Review : Cube Escape ,
The Paradox by Boonie Yang
“ There ’ s nothing like this surreal room-escape / short film mash-up ”
The mobile and PC game Cube Escape : Paradox consists of quests and puzzles . The game is part of the Cube Escape universe developed by Rusty Lake Studios in 2018 . It is possible to pass the main idea of the game without knowing the universe , but only the people who have already completed the previous games of the series ( totaling thirteen ), will be able to uncover all the secrets of the story and get the whole picture of what is going on . I love how confusing and slightly scary it is when we play . Having played all thirteen in the series several times , I would say the Paradox would interest students the most .
The Story The Paradox is a combined Rusty Lake game and short film . Both follow the story of a detective who finds himself trapped in two different universes and needs to escape . When the detective , Dale Vandermeer wakes up in an ominous room without any recollection of his own past , he soon finds himself part of a game controlled by an enemy of his . He must solve challenging puzzles to escape the bloody room and recover his memories . Vandermeer must connect the past , present , and future of his detective life . “ The past is never dead .”
Gameplay The Company Rusty Lake tries to delight the players with puzzles and a unique “ cube-shaped ” escape room , unlike most puzzle games with a lot of rooms in different shapes and sizes . The
list of interesting puzzles includes building a route through a route and exploring a head-shaped puzzle . There are almost no related tasks in the game making it harder to solve . Hints for most puzzles are all in the room where the detective has to get out . Others require thinking to solve . There are always time limits to the last group of puzzles needed to solve the game , giving players jump scares from the mysterious old foe . Compared to other
escape room games , this gives us a taste of old-fashioned 2D escape rooms bringing us back to the 70s and 80s . Unlike those fast-paced inappropriate shooting games , parents do not have too much objection to this kind because children can practice their patience and brainstorming while playing it .
