Just over an hour south-west of Brisbane , Kalbar is a historic hidden gem nestled in the Fassifern Valley . White Chapel Kalbar is one of the town ’ s stop-the-car landmarks , fronted by a white picket fence with original timber floors , a backlit altar , white bentwood chairs , and iron chandeliers inside . “ We visited and researched so many venues ,” says Christina . “ The moment we stepped foot inside White Chapel Kalbar , we knew it was the perfect place . It was exactly what I dreamed of as a little girl , and Black Hall was so romantic and cosy . Plus the staff are incredible , I can ’ t recommend it enough .” With White Chapel a match for the couple ’ s Classic / Romantic theme , Christina surprised herself when gown shopping at Brisbane ’ s White Lily Couture . “ It was kind of the opposite of what I had imagined ,” she admits of her mermaid-style gown . “ But when I tried it on , I was blown away . It was stunning , sleek , and sexy yet totally classic .” On the big day , the couple ’ s celebration was a loving mix of faith and tradition .“ Marriage is a true gift from God ,” says Christina . “ In Ecclesiastes , it mentions ‘ a cord of three strands is not easily broken ’ as the strands represent God , the groom and bride .” When the party moved on to Black Hall ( a Sunday School turned atmospheric events space ), a heartfelt nod to the groom ’ s heritage was a reception highlight . “ Due to Covid , lots of Gerard ’ s family couldn ’ t make it to the wedding ,” explains Christina .” We felt it was important to perform a Filipino ‘ Courting Dance ’ to acknowledge Gerard ’ s heritage and family . It was so much fun to learn and our family and friends loved it !” After “ I do ” in the White Chapel , the party moved on to the equally stunning Black Hall .
