YOUNG LAWYER SHOWCASE YLS continues to host happy hour and lunch events as well as webinars. YLS is also gearing up for the annual spring food drive. MEGAN GORDON PATRICK BROOKE Megan Gordon is an associate attorney with Vogel Law Firm in Bismarck. She currently practices in the areas of family law and civil litigation. Patrick Brooke is an attorney with Redmann Law, PC, in Mandan. His practice areas include criminal defense, family law, estate planning, and professional liability defense. He has a variety of past experiences that include general practice, professional liability defense, child support enforcement, and state and local government work. Brooke currently serves as an alternate judge for Judge DeNae Kautzmann in Mandan. Gordon grew up in Dickinson. Her family has had the honor of welcoming foster children into their home for more than 15 years. During this time, Gordon has learned valuable life lessons from her foster siblings, including the importance of empathy, compassion, and respect. This experience led her to pursue a career in the legal profession. Gordon earned an undergraduate degree in family social science, with distinction, from the University of Minnesota. She then moved closer to home to attend the University of North Dakota (UND) School of Law. During her time in law school, she was the outside articles editor of the North Dakota Law Review, participated in moot court, and served as an extern for Judge Ralph R. Erickson of the U.S. District Court, District of North Dakota. She also served as a legislative intern for the North Dakota House Human Services Committee, as well as the House Government and Veterans Affairs Committee, during the 2017 legislative session. She graduated from the UND School of Law in 2018 and was elected to the Order of the Coif. After graduating from law school, Gordon moved even closer to home and currently resides in Mandan. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and spoiling her niece and nephews. 26 THE GAVEL Brooke grew up in Dickinson and graduated from Trinity High School in 2003. In 2007, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Dakota (UND) with a bachelor of business administration degree. He then worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as an assistant bank examiner. In 2012, Brooke graduated with distinction from the UND School of Law. While in law school, Brooke served as technical editor of the North Dakota Law Review and treasurer of the Student Trial Lawyers Association. Brooke is a member of SBAND, the Big Muddy Bar Association, and American Inns of Court. He is also an assistant wrestling coach for Mandan High School and the head junior high coach at St. Mary’s High School. He is a pilot licensed to fly single engine land and sea planes and has a tailwheel endorsement. In his free time, he teaches piano lessons and enjoys playing trumpet, spending time with family and friends, golfing, hunting, skiing, and brewing beer.
