Hovland Becomes Chief Judge for District of North Dakota
United States District Judge Daniel L. Hovland assumed the role of Chief Judge for the District of North Dakota on Nov. 1. The Chief Judge provides the court with strategic leadership, court governance, court-management oversight, and case-management oversight. The Chief Judge also represents the District at the Judicial Conference of the United States and the Eighth Circuit Judicial Council. The position of Chief Judge is a statutory appointment for a period of seven years.
Chief Judge Hovland graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead in 1976 and from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1979. He was appointed to the federal bench in 2002 by President George W. Bush.
Maring Williams Law Office Welcomes New Shareholder and Associate Attorney
Maring Williams Law Office is pleased to announce Lindsay M. Wilz( Harris) has become a shareholder in the firm and Jared J. Wall has joined the firm as an associate attorney.
Wilz graduated from the University of North Dakota( UND) School of Law in 2012 and was named to the Order of Barristers. After graduation, she clerked for Justice Mary Muehlen Maring of the North Dakota Supreme Court. She has served on the executive board for the North Dakota Association of Justice and is currently the secretary. She is also a member of Inquiry Committee West and the current president of the Young Lawyers Section. Wilz is licensed in North Dakota and Montana.
Wall graduated magna cum laude from the UND School of Law in 2014 and was named to the Order of the Barristers. After graduation, Wall clerked for the South Central Judicial District in Bismarck. Wall is currently licensed in North Dakota.
