On March 4, 2026, BJ Kiel announced his retirement from the Larry H. Miller Company and Larry H. Miller Real Estate after nearly 30 years of dedicated service.

Throughout his career, BJ became known not just for what he did, but how he did it. He built strong relationships, supported countless teams and consistently showed up with a willingness to help wherever needed. In living out the company value of Stewardship, BJ treated every property, project and person as a trust to be cared for and strengthened. His service, loyalty to the Miller family and steady leadership leave a legacy that will continue to influence the organization long after his retirement.
Known for her thoughtful approach and commitment to service, Karol played an important role in connecting organizations with opportunities and supporting the Foundation’ s philanthropic mission.
Since joining the organization in 1999, BJ has played a central role in keeping people and properties safe, serving as public safety manager at Jordan Commons and later as a building manager supporting Megaplex Theatres and key LHM Real Estate properties. His work touched nearly every corner of the organization, from property and facilities management to public safety operations.
One of the most memorable examples of BJ’ s calm under pressure came at Megaplex 17 at Jordan Commons, when BJ used an AED device and CPR to help save the life of a guest who had collapsed without a pulse until additional medical help arrived. His training, composure and quick action helped save a life and reinforced the importance of preparedness across the company.

After more than three decades of service, Karol Elkington retired from the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation and Larry H. Miller Company on January 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by dedication, relationships and meaningful community impact.
Karol began her career in 1991 as an employee with the Utah Jazz. Over the next 34 years, she served in a variety of roles across the company, most recently as a grants administrator with the Miller Family Foundation. Throughout her career, Karol became a trusted partner to nonprofit organizations across the state, helping administer hundreds of grants and serving as a steady, knowledgeable resource for those working to strengthen their communities.
Her work helped foster relationships across Utah and ensured that resources reached programs making a meaningful difference in people’ s lives. Colleagues and partners alike have described her as a bridge builder— someone who brought people together and helped turn ideas into action.
As Karol begins this next chapter, her impact will continue to be felt through the many organizations, partnerships and initiatives she helped shape. The Foundation celebrates her remarkable career and thanks her for more than three decades of dedication to enriching lives and strengthening communities.
