Stuff For Students in Colorado

Giving to the Community

Students from all over Colorado are grateful for the efforts of local Larry H. Miller dealerships. Throughout the month of August, local citizens were invited to drop off school supplies to Boulder and Denver-area Larry H. Miller dealerships, where they were used to fill a vehicle in the showroom. The goal was to completely fill each vehicle, alleviating a significant financial burden on students and families who often have to pay a substantial amount of money each year for supplies. The donations also help teachers, many of whom pay for school supplies out of their own pockets for students from low income families.

“ There’ s still a concerning number of children living in poverty in Colorado and school funding is not sufficient enough to help with other needs like school supplies,” said Bradley Gulley, director of volunteer programs at Volunteers of America Colorado Branch.“ Thanks to the donations from Larry H. we will be able to provide more students with the school supplies they need to be successful in the classroom. These contributions will make a real difference in the communities we serve.”
By the end of the campaign, the dealerships collected enough school supplies to fill 350 backpacks. With a backpack’ s worth of supplies valued at $ 50, that means that $ 17,500 worth of supplies were collected. With the addition of a $ 6,000 donation from LHM Charities and the efforts of other local business partners, this year’ s Stuff for Students campaign will benefit 60,000 Colorado students. ◆
