our donations to Larry H. Miller Charities
strengthen the communities around us by
benefiting 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
whose programs assist women and children in
the areas of health and education. Employee
subcommittees in each of the LHM Group’s
10 major markets review grant requests and
recommend which should receive funding. In this
issue, we are featuring activities in New Mexico
and Utah.
Albuquerque employees are assisting
women who are working to break the cycle of
homelessness and incarceration with the help
of Crossroads for Women. These women often
struggle with addiction and mental health
disorders that cause disruption within their
families. Crossroads is helping mothers reconnect
with their children through healthy activities.
Employee donations are also providing food to
hungry women and children in Albuquerque
through the Rio Grande Food Project.
In Utah, employee donations are supporting
NBA Math Hoops, a program which incorporates
NBA player statistics into a board game that
teaches youth math skills. Last year, Utah
participants saw math scores improve by 37

percent. Another donation is providing kids
struggling with loss with support at A Center
for Grieving Children. A grant to United Way of
Utah County is facilitating parenting workshops
and providing 660 books to first-grade and
second-grade students at two Title I schools.
These are just a few of the ways your “Give Us
Five” dollars are at work in the community.
