DOWNTOWN DAYBREAK :
BALLPARK MARKS MAJOR MILESTONE
The Ballpark at America First Square celebrated a milestone in October as the team laid down sod for the playing surface , almost a year to the date from the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Ballpark in 2023 . Gail Miller , Zane Miller , Steve Starks , Michelle Smith , Brad Holmes , Ty Wardle , Brian Soukup , and Eric Barton rolled the final pieces of sod out down the right field line . Throughout the fall and early winter , the Bees grounds crew continued to treat the grass and used nearly 100 tons of topdressing sand to help protect the grass over the winter .
Phase 1A of Downtown Daybreak is well underway , with around 500 construction team members on site daily . Completion of the 8,000-seat ballpark is scheduled before the Salt Lake Bees home opener against the Reno Aces on Tuesday , April 8 . The site contains approximately 150,000 square feet of commercial retail and office space , including the first cinema entertainment center for Megaplex , 180 apartments , America First Square ’ s concert stage , ice skating rink , playground , 2,500 parking spaces , a new UTA Trax stop and new roads , utilities and more . The project has been a collaboration between the LHM Company , Larry H . Miller Real Estate , Miller Sports + Entertainment , TallyCM , South Jordan City , and many other stakeholders .
