RSL’ S DIEGO LUNA STEPS INTO THE NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT
Real Salt Lake midfielder Diego Luna stepped into the national spotlight— this time as the featured cover story in The New York Times sports section. Diego’ s rise is a sports success story and a moment of recognition for Utah, for RSL and for the growth of soccer culture in our community.
At just 21, Diego has become one of the most recognizable young American players in Major League Soccer. The New York Times story highlights his rapid ascent from a promising teenager to a mainstay for both Real Salt Lake and the U. S. Men’ s National Team. During this summer’ s MLS All-Star festivities in Austin, Texas, Diego found himself quite literally larger than life— his face displayed on buildings, buses and promotional banners.“ It’ s pretty crazy to see my face everywhere”, said Diego.“ It’ s something I’ ve worked for my whole life.”
