Sprinkling Hope:
LHM Senior Health Helps Restore Safety at Tahanan Santa Luisa
When members of the Larry H. Miller Senior Health executive team traveled to the Philippines last year to support international nurse recruitment efforts, they came home with more than just professional connections. They also came home inspired and with a desire to help. During their visit, they were introduced to Tahanan Santa Luisa, a shelter dedicated to helping street-involved girls rebuild their lives through healing, education, and empowerment.
The shelter, located in Metro Manila, has long served as a safe haven for at-risk youth. But during their visit, executive leaders learned that its capacity to serve girls in need had been severely limited due a broken sprinkler system that rendered parts of the facility unsafe.
In true LHM spirit, Senior Health employees stepped up. During this past holiday season, they launched a platform-wide fundraiser to gather the money needed to repair the shelter’ s sprinkler system. Thanks to the generosity of employees across the platform, they were able to fund the full cost of the needed repairs.
After a few months of work, the system has been restored, and Tahanan Santa Luisa is once again able
to welcome more girls into their care. This act of generosity not only made a tangible difference in the lives of these young women— it reaffirmed the platform’ s commitment to community, both at home and abroad.
