The Larry H . & Gail Miller Family Foundation was proud to support Payson High School and its student-led initiative to bring actor Kevin Bacon to town in honor of the 40th anniversary of his hit movie Footloose .
Footloose was released in 1984 and was filmed in Payson , Utah . To celebrate its 40th anniversary , Kevin Bacon ’ s foundation SixDegrees made a goal to create and distribute 40,000 essential resource kits to communities and organizations in need .
Students at Payson High jumped into the challenge and partnered with SixDegrees to make 5,000 kits on the day of their senior prom , and invited Kevin to join them at the school before it is renovated next year .
The Miller Family Foundation made a $ 12,000 donation to the project , which aided in gathering the supplies needed for the kits .
Karen Vazquez and Sharon Miller , members of the Miller family , helped local students and community members package the resource kits before participating in a private meetand-greet with Bacon in the school ’ s library . LHMCO ’ s Blake Andersen also attended the event and helped welcome Kevin back to Utah .
