Sam thought nothing of his wife , Laura , coming home from a routine prenatal appointment until she said , “ Sam , you ’ re going to need to sit down . We ’ re having twins .”
“ It was very exciting and overwhelming ,” Sam said . “ We didn ’ t know how big our family was going to end up , but I don ’ t think we were expecting to go from three to five kids .”
Laura ’ s pregnancy was difficult , and she was put on bed rest which kept her from doing daily tasks and activities with her kids , and Sam had to juggle work , church service and caring for his three young children and wife .
“ I couldn ’ t have hoped to work for a better company during that time ,” Wood said . “ One of the best parts of my job is helping people , and that was reciprocated . My team was always so supportive and asked what they could do for me , and I knew they meant it .”
Wood would frequently start his days in the office and leave early to take care of his children and work the rest of the day remotely .
“ I don ’ t think a lot of other companies would have allowed that , Sam said . “ I love working for the Larry H . Miller Company because they back up what they say about being the best place in town to do business and the best place in town to work with what they do for their employees .”
“ There wasn ’ t any hesitation from my team to step up and fill in for me so I could stay and be with my wife ,” Sam said .
