ARTICLES 2 VIDEO PHOTOS Announcements September 11, 2017: The Utah Jazz promoted 12-year veteran Derek Garduño to vice president of communications and introduced Lindsay Twiss as director of communications and Danny Franks as communications manager. September 12, 2017: Silicon Slopes, the leading nonprofit association representing Utah’s technology industry, joined with the Utah Jazz to form the Silicon Slopes Club in the newly renovated Vivint Smart Home Arena. September 13, 2017: The Utah Jazz named David Morway and Justin Zanik as assistant general managers. In addition, the organization promoted Steven Schwartz to director of basketball operations. September 14, 2017: Larry H. Miller Dealerships, with the support of customers and employees, collected $23,500 in school supplies during the 2017 Stuff for Students campaign. In partnership with 9News, Volunteers of America Colorado Branch (VOA), and other business partners, supplies donated during this year’s drive benefited 60,000 students from pre-kindergarten through high school. September 15, 2017: The Utah Jazz revealed the third of its four core uniforms for the 2017–18 season in conjunction with a Nike NBA launch event featuring Jazz guard Rodney Hood in Culver City, Calif. For the first time in franchise history, the team’s distinct gold color will be the primary color in the statement-edition uniform. September 29, 2017: The Utah Jazz held its annual intrasquad scrimmage at a military base in support of the organization’s Hoops for Troops initiative. The event was held at Hill Air Force Base, and a donation from Larry H. Miller Charities was made to Team Hill Operation Warm Heart, a nonprofit that assists base members in need. Joining new head coach Martin Schiller and assistant coaches Bryan Bailey and Nathan Peavy are Juan Torres (head trainer/director of sports performance), Jordan Harding (assistant trainer/ assistant strength and conditioning coach), Lowell Egan (director of basketball operations), James Fraschilla (basketball operations assistant), and Nick Reick (basketball operations assistant). October 17, 2017: The Utah Jazz announced the launch of the official Jazz Kids Club to complement the popular Junior Jazz initiative. October 21, 2017: The Utah Jazz held 5 For the Fight Night. The charitable cause of corporate partner Qualtrics aims to raise funds to accelerate the pace of innovative cancer research. October 24, 2017: The Utah Jazz Dancers held a charity dance clinic where youth ages 7–18 could participate by donating a can of food to help stock the Utah Food Bank. The Peanut Butter Jamm began in 2013 through the Will Dance for Kids Project in an effort to raise funds to fight childhood hunger through dance and dance competitions. November 1, 2017: The Utah Jazz, Chick-fil-A, and Will Dance for Kids Project teamed up to host the Peanut Butter Jamm. Fans attending the Jazz vs. Portland Trail Blazers game were encouraged to bring a jar of peanut butter to Vivint Smart Home Arena to receive a gift card for a free meal at any loc
