A Glance at LHM Charities at Work in Boulder and Denver.
Your donations to Larry H. Miller Charities strengthen the communities
around us by benefiting 501(c)(3) nonprofit charities whose programs
assist women and children in the areas of health and education.
Employee subcommittees in each of the LHM Group’s 10 major markets
review grant requests and recommend which groups should receive funding.
In this issue, we’re featuring activities in the Colorado communities of
Boulder and Denver.
Employees in Boulder know that homeless youth have unique needs
and challenges. Recently, they supported Attention Homes’ runaway and
homeless youth program, which assists children between the ages of 12-24.
The nonprofit offers street outreach and both day drop-in and overnight
emergency shelter services. Youth have access to many other services
as well, such as mental health and career counseling, life skills training,
crisis management, substance abuse support, educational and recreational
activities, and more.
Last fall, Boulder employees addressed the critical issue of teen suicide by
donating to the Second Wind Fund of Boulder County. This charity works to
remove financial and social barriers to mental health treatment for at-risk youth.
Through a donation to Listen Foundation, Denver employees are helping
children who are deaf or hard of hearing whose families can’t afford the
cost of therapy. Listen Foundation offers one-on-one therapy that involves
parents so that learning can continue at home. In combination with hearing
devices, children learn how to listen, interpret sounds, and communicate in
spoken language.
Denver employees are also helping many women and children in
need through a donation to The Gathering Place. The nonprofit provides
necessities such as food, clothing, shower and laundry facilities, mental
and physical health services, home and vocational counseling, educational
services, and more.
