“Golden” Dealerships
in ldaho
Boise, Idaho, 1997
I
n early 1997, LHM Dealerships
announced that a number of
dealerships located in Caldwell and
Boise, Idaho, would henceforth be
officially known as Larry H. Miller
Dealerships. The dealerships had been
purchased the previous April from the
Golden Rule Dealership Group, but a
part of the purchase agreement required
them to keep their original names for a
certain period of time.
The new dealerships were quickly
absorbed into the culture of Larry H.
Miller Group of Companies. According
to Clyde Wheeler, chief operating officer
of the Group’s dealerships in Idaho at
the time, “People are adjusting quite
well. This has been a big undertaking,
but we are adjusting to the changes new
ownership brings. Considering we are
only 60 days into this change, I think
things are going extremely well. The
attitude of the people up here fits with
the Group. Merging is beneficial to
everyone. My job is fun and challenging.
All the people I deal with inside the
Group are extremely cooperative and
helpful. Everyone is understanding to
the adjustments we need to make, and
we are learning the way things are done
within the Group.”
Today, the remaining dealerships
from this acquisition are a major factor
in the company’s success. ◆
