UTAH Gail Miller Honored with Congressional Award Award Given in Nation’s Capital G ail Miller is no stranger to awards, but a recent honor paid tribute to Gail on a national scale. During a ceremony in Washington, D.C., Gail received a prestigious award. The Horizon Award honors individuals who “have worked to expand opportunities for all Americans through their own personal contributions.” Previous honorees include Cal Ripken, Jr., Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. “Gail embodies the spirit of this award by demonstrating thought for others in her decision-making and using her influence to shape communities for the better,” said Paxton K. Baker, chairman of The Congressional Award National Board of Directors. “Gail’s story is about finding true individuality, and her life’s work serves as an extraordinary example for our nation’s youth, particularly young women.” During the annual ceremony at the US Capitol, Senator Mitt Romney presented Miller with the award saying, “Gail is not only a pillar in our community, she is an example who serves with grace, and with commitment, and with personal strength.” Gail spoke after receiving the award, urging those present to demonstrate decency in society. “We need to lead by example and insist that respect, courtesy, and civility are at the top of our consciousness, no matter the issue, or the event,” Miller said. “By working together, we can eradicate bullying, discrimination and hate, unsportsmanlike conduct, and intolerance. We all need to stand up and speak up! You are the leaders of tomorrow. We are counting on your innovative ideas, your energy, your compassion, and your courage to build a strong world.” ◆ UTAH Leadership On Display Kim Casaday Honored by Women’s Organization K im Casaday, president of Total Care Auto Powered by Landcar, was honored recently by the Exceptional Women Awardees Foundation (EWA) to be part of its Cohort of Women Leaders in its June 2019–June 2020 program.
