our donations to Larry H. Miller Charities help 501(c)(3) nonprofit
programs that focus on health and education for women and children
in your community. Employee committees from each of the LHM
Group’s 10 major markets help decide which charities receive funding. In this
issue, we’re featuring donations in Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona.
Phoenix employees recognize that low-income families face extra
challenges. Through funding granted to the Assistance League of Phoenix,
107 children who live in poverty will receive new school clothes. Low-
income children often enter kindergarten below the benchmark in literacy
skills, and a donation to Valley of the Sun United Way is supplying school-
readiness kits that address this problem. These kits teach parents how to use
daily activities to prepare children for school.
Funding given to A New Leaf is providing after-school and summer
programs for 85 children who live at its La Mesita Campus, which includes
an affordable housing complex and homeless shelter. FACES, a program
operated by Save the Family Foundation of Arizona, received a contribution
that helps homeless families with careers, relationships, finances, child care,
and other services.
TMM Family Services provides care and housing for foster children at
its Children’s Village, and Tucson employees are supporting this important
cause. These children have been removed from their homes by the Arizona
Department of Safety and often arrive with only the clothes on their backs.
Funding from LHM Charities is providing these children hygiene items,
clothes, and school supplies.
The Tucson Jewish Community Center offers Camp J, a summer camp, to
teens of all denominations. Some youths struggle to pay the fees, and funding
from LHM Charities is helping them participate. Scholarship funding was
also provided to underserved teens in Tucson who wished to attend Camp
Employees from Larry H. Miller Volkswagen Tucson presented
