Special Olympics of New Mexico is just one of the many organizations that greatly benefit from employee donations.
Your “Give Us Five” Donations at Work
A Glance at LHM Charities at Work in May
Your donations to Larry H. Miller (LHM)
Charities benefit 501(c)(3) nonprofit
programs that address health and education
issues for women and children in your
community. Employee committees from each of
the LHM Group’s 10 major markets determine
which charities receive funding.
The Parent Aid Child Abuse Prevention
Center in Tucson, Arizona, focuses on
strengthening families and preventing abuse.
LHM employee contributions are supporting
parenting classes that create healthier homes
and better outcomes for local children.
There With Care in Boulder, Colorado, helps
families with critically ill children. Funding
from LHM Charities is assisting these families
with transportation costs and providing car
seats for newborns.
Special Olympics offers those with
intellectual disabilities the opportunity to
grow and develop as they train and participate
in athletic competitions. Give Us Five
donations benefited the Special Olympics New
Mexico Summer Games, which were held in
Albuquerque.
RiteCare of Utah provides free speech
therapy to children with language disorders,
8 LHM Winning Spirit July/August 2018
and LHM Charities is supporting this critical
service. When the donation was presented to
RiteCare, one mother expressed her heartfelt
thanks, indicating her child could only make
grunting, unintelligible sounds before RiteCare
provided therapy.
Give Us Five funding granted to Kids on
the Move is providing respite care for Utah
families with disabled children, and a donation
to Guadalupe School is helping low-income,
at-risk preschoolers prepare for kindergarten.
A contribution to Live
Your Dream is assisting
single mothers in
Utah with educational
scholarships. The
University of Utah
received funding for
several programs that
benefit youth, including
First Star Academy,
which helps adolescents
succeed in college as
they transition out of
foster care. Additional
Utah donations from
LHM Charities are
listed in the sidebar that accompanies this
article.
Through Gail Miller’s generosity, all
employee contributions to LHM Charities are
matched, so anything you donate has double the
impact. Even small contributions can make a
difference when we all work together. For more
information on how you can sign up for the
Give Us Five payroll deduction program, please
speak with your human resources or payroll
administrator. ◆
