Saying Goodbye to the “Yes Man”
LHM Dealerships Mourn Beloved General Manager
Over Thanksgiving week, the people of
Albuquerque—and the LHM Group of
Companies—lost a beloved and valued leader
and community icon. Michael “JR” Malouff, general
manager of LHM American Toyota, passed away. JR
joined the LHM Group in 1988, and for the last 27
years, he was general manager of American Toyota.
In this role, he was known throughout Albuquerque
as the “Yes Man” for his TV ads that featured
Malouff saying “Yes” again and again.
JR graduated from the University of Northern
Colorado, where he earned a bachelor’s degree
in business with an emphasis in marketing. He
enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends,
and he loved playing golf, sports, and thoroughbred
breeding and racing. JR was also an avid supporter
of the University of New Mexico.
His dedication to customer service was clear
to everyone who walked through the door of
the dealership. People who had a great buying
experience spread the word, which helped
The “Yes Man” was always happy to be involved with
charities, such as the Children’s Cancer Fund.
American Toyota become an Albuquerque icon
and made the “Yes Man” a recognizable figure
throughout the community.
Known for the loyalty of his employees, JR
Malouff has been a key figure in the LHM Group
for years. During his tenure, the dealership won
the coveted Toyota Presidents Award an incredible
12 times, six of them consecutively. Not only that,
but American Toyota has been a major sales leader
within the group and had close to $100 million in
profit during that time.
JR was never one to let success go to his head
and mentored several others who rose to leadership
positions over the years. In 2017, JR Malouff was
honored at the annual LHM Leadership Conference
with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Above all, JR loved being with his family,
including Patti, his wife of 37 years. His loss is felt
throughout the LHM Group of Companies and he
will be missed. ◆
