LHM CHARITIES
OCTOBER 2014 UPDATE
Larry H. Miller (LHM) Charities continues
its mission of supporting nonprofits
that benefit women and children in
the communities where our companies
are based. Donations are distributed
to programs that focus on health and
education.
A contribution to Union Gospel Mission in
Spokane, Washington, will help provide
Thanksgiving dinner to low-income and
homeless community members. Funding
granted to the Park Hill Bike Depot will
support a program that offers refurbished
bicycles to underprivileged youth in the
Denver, Colorado, area. A contribution
made to Nourish (Tucson, Arizona) will
assist families with children who have
dietary challenges, such as premature
infants who need specialized formula.
LHM Charities traditionally reaches out
during the holidays to help others. The
LHM Nissan Highlands Ranch’s Joseph Guajardo, Carla
Turner, Amanda Valdez and Matt Carpenter present a
check for Boys and Girls Clubs of Denver.
GM Jim Brown (LEX/LLX) presents a $20,000
donation to the Utah Anti-Bullying Coalition.
Tucson branch of the Salvation Army
received support for Book Bonanza, a
program that provides books to children
at Christmas. In Utah, Firemen & Friends
for Kids was granted funding for Bear
Hugs for Kids, a program in which the
Jazz Bear joins volunteers and takes
underprivileged youth Christmas shopping.
Each year, many low-income elementary
school students and their families
receive assistance through generous
Sub for Santa donations distributed via
Utah schools. Funding will be
contributed in the following
school districts: Salt Lake City,
Granite, Provo and Ogden.
Donations will also be made in the
Cedar City and St. George areas.
Other Utah organizations that
received support from LHM
Charities include People Helping
People, Prevent Child Abuse, Kids
on the Move, S.A.D.S. Foundation,
Habitat for Humanity of Utah
County, Jordan Education
Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of
South Valley and more.
Donating is a great way to celebrate
the holidays! Gail Miller matches all
contributions employees make to LHM
Charities, so any money you give has
double the impact. Contribute a one-time
donation of any size, or contact your
payroll administrator or human resources
director for information about the Give Us
Five payroll deduction program.
GM Glenn Coe (SCD) and staff present a $10,000
check to Eve’s Place for its unique transitional
housing initiative.
