SCREENS | TECHNICAL NSSA ACCREDITATION PROGRAM LAUNCHED JOIN THE T he National Security Screen Association (NSSA) is proud to announce the roll-out of the NSSA Accreditation Program. The scheme has been designed to provide members with the peace of mind that the products they manufacture meet the requirements of Australian Standard (AS) 5039 Security Screen Doors and Security Window Grilles. This also gives consumers the confidence that products purchased from an NSSA member carry the endorsement of third party accreditation through the Australian Window Association’s (AWA) NATA accredited Inspection Agency. The program was favourably received by existing members during the trial stage and has now expanded to all NSSA members going forward. The NSSA is proud to make this program available to members as the only NATA accredited program for security doors and grilles in Australia and is committed to providing its members with independent assurance of technical competence in their field. COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATE To complement the launch, the NSSA has released a new compliance certificate (figure 01) for members to provide to their customers. Use of the certificate will increase awareness of the NSSA’s third party accreditation scheme and compliance with Australian Standards. By also highlighting association membership, it lifts the profile of member companies. • The independent accreditation scheme under which certification is provided. The certificate can be accessed through the members resources section of the NSSA website, www.nssa.org.au. Access to these resources requires members to be logged in. On 1 May 2017, the NSSA introduced two compliance labels, a generic one for security window screens (figure 02) and a detailed version that includes the security system supplier logo and the fabricator/installer logo for security doors (figure 03). COMPLIANCE LABELS Members are required to register an account then submit their company logo to [email protected] to enable labels to be customised. A requirement of AS 5039 is that compliant products are labelled. The manufacturer certifies that the windows and door security screens supplied to the nominated site have been manufactured to comply with the AUSTRALIAN STANDARD (AS) 5039 SECURITY SCREEN DOORS AND SECURITY WINDOW GRILLES and the design performance has been verified by a NATA ACCREDITED TEST LABORATORY in accordance with AUSTRALIAN STANDARD (AS) 5041 METHODS OF TEST – SECURITY SCREEN DOORS AND WINDOW GRILLES.
